The Magnetic Mini-Mover Procedure, cont.

The Magnetic Mini-Mover Procedure (3MP) uses two magnets, one inside the chest and the other outside the chest, to create a controlled, sustained magnetic force field that gradually moves the rib cartilage to a more normal position---the same principle used in moving teeth with orthodontic braces. 3MP requires only minimal (outpatient) surgery and does not require painful implanted chest wall struts.

Patients ages 8-14 years of age are being recruited this study. If you are interested in participating or learning more about the 3MP trial, please contact Jill Imamura-Ching, RN at pectus@ucsfmedctr.org or 415-502-0172 and visit our website at http://pedsurg.ucsf.edu/conditions--procedures/magnetic-mini-mover-procedure.aspx
